India won the title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the ICC T-20 in the United States and West Indies. India had previously won the title by defeating Pakistan in the final of the ICC T20 in South Africa in 2007. India, who earlier missed out on the ODI World Cup title, avoided losing their second consecutive final.

While chasing the target of 177 runs presented by India, South Africa could only score 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. With this, South Africa, who reached the final for the first time, was deprived of the title.

Heinrich Klaasen played a half-century innings for South Africa. He faced 27 balls and hit 2 fours and 5 sixes. Likewise, Quinton de Kock added 39 runs off 31 balls. He hit 4 fours and 1 six.
