771 runs and 97 boundaries in one World Cup match

 In the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 in India, 771 runs were scored in a single match between Australia and New Zealand. This is the most runs scored in a single match in the history of the World Cup. Chasing a huge winning target of 389 runs for victory, New Zealand lost 9 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs and after scoring 383 runs, the total became 771 runs.

Earlier, the highest number of runs scored in a single match of the World Cup was 754 runs. This run was scored in the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka in this World Cup in Delhi. In the match between Australia and Bangladesh in 2019, 714 runs were scored. A total of 700 runs has not been scored in any other World Cup match.


After losing the toss in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, Australia were all out for 388 runs in 49.2 overs. Australia's Travis Head scored 109 runs in 67 balls with 10 fours and 7 sixes.

Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand played a century innings of 116 runs in 89 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. New Zealand hit 12 sixes and 33 fours in the match.

New Zealand's Ravindra hit the most five sixes. Similarly, James Neesum hit 3, Will Young, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santnar and Trent Boult hit a six each.

Chasing that winning target for victory, Sri Lanka scored 326 runs in 44-5 overs. Sri Lanka hit 29 fours and 17 sixes in the match. A total of 74 fours and 31 sixes were hit in the match.
